Girona, December 29th, 2006

Another yaji gathering was held by Friends of Guqin, this time at Girona on a cold winter day. The assistants were David Sánchez i Joan M. Vigo. Precisely, David had just received his silk-strings qin, crafted by Wang Peng - Cesc is still thinking about buying one.

The meeting divided into three parts: tuning of the Qin, interpretation of Xianweng Cao according to the transcription of John Thompson and finally a recording session of qin pieces played by Joan.

The first part of the meeting focused on qin tuning. Joan explained the basics of the tuning method, as well as how to perform it. More detailed information on this subject is available at tuning the guqin.

The Melody of the transcendent and venerable one is quite a simple melody. Following Joan’s directions, David learnt some basic tecniques and the first part of this melody. Its transcription can be read online in the web that John Thompson dedicates to the Guqin.
