Liang Mingyue (梁銘越) was born in China in 1941. Liang studied ethno-musicology and composition at the University of California, culminating in a Doctor of Philosophy degree. His The Chinese Ch’in - Its History and Music, published in 1972 by San Francisco Conservatory of Music, is so difficult to get, but fortunately, his dissertation The Art of Yin and Jou Techniques for the Seven-Stringed Zither (1973) is available through ProQuest.
